Abdominal wall parasitic myoma following electromechanical morcellation.

چکیده
Parasitic myomas are those that have become partially or almost completely separated from the uterus and receive their main blood-supply from another source. The etiopathogenesis of parasitic myomas may be separation of peduncululated subserosal myomas that have outgrown their blood supply. More commonly, iatrogenic parasitic myomas may be caused by seeding of myoma fragments following morcellation during hysterectomy or myomectomy [1].

Parasitic Myomas Due to Laparoscopic Intra-abdominal Morcellation
Introduction: The use of electric tissue morcellators is crucial to allow the extraction of voluminous parts from a small laparoscopic incision, especially when the vagina is not opened. This report discusses how morcellation could be associated with the risk of intra-abdominal parasitic myomas developing. Cases Description: Three women were affected by intra-abdominal parasitic myomas several ...
متن کاملParasitic myoma after laparoscopic surgery: a mini-review.
The aim of this review is to summarize the cases of parasitic myomas after laparoscopic surgery. A literature search was performed using the PubMed database for the period of January 1997 to December 2014. We used the following keywords: "laparoscopic hysterectomy," "laparoscopic myomectomy," "morcellation," "parasitic fibroids," "parasitic myomas," and "leiomyomatosis." A total of 29 articles ...

•Leiomyomatosis following laparoscopic hysterectomy with morcellation is reported.•Parasitic myomas grow in a benign fashion but may be fatal depending on location.•Fibroids are a contraindication for laparoscopic hysterectomy with morcellation.•Containment bags may address intraperitoneal spillage of malignant tissue.
متن کاملTorsion of a Subserosal Myoma Managed by Gasless Laparoendoscopic Single-Site Myomectomy with In-Bag Manual Extraction.
Acute torsion of a subserosal myoma is a rare surgical emergency that is infrequently diagnosed preoperatively. Furthermore, laparoendoscopic single-site (LESS) myomectomy with in-bag tissue extraction for the management of this disorder has not yet been described. A 43-year-old, gravida 1, para 1 woman was referred to our department due to a solid pelvic mass associated with persistent abdomin...
متن کاملNew Strategies for Treating Myomas
Laparoscopic minilaparotomy in 6 patients using the Maher abdominal elevator facilitated both quicker enucleation and morcellation of the myoma and suture of the myoma cavity. Myoma reduction in 12 patients by electrosurgery resulted in a 60% reduction in myoma diameter with failure in 2 patients. This technique may avoid myomectomy and be particularly useful in patients with infertility or nea...
